Applications / Data Wrangler

Available

Update CatDV from a spreadsheet, without the copy and paste.

Data Wrangler matches each CSV or TSV row to the right CatDV asset, updates the fields you choose, and records the result. Set up the mapping once, then use it again when the next batch arrives.

How it works

From request to result.

  1. 01

    Choose what identifies the asset.

Map spreadsheet columns to the CatDV fields you trust for matching. Combine fields and choose exact, starts-with, or contains rules.

  2. 02

    Choose what can change.

Map the remaining columns to the CatDV fields you want to update. Set the policy for rows with no match or more than one match before the run starts.

  3. 03

Run the file and review every row.

Choose or drop a CSV or TSV file, watch progress, then review the match count, asset IDs, fields written, and any error for each row.

In the app

See Data Wrangler at work.

The Data Wrangler Run view during a live run: 98 of 137 rows done, beside the saved setup that searches CatDV by media path and writes the name, owner, tags, and type fields.
A live run: progress updates as each row finishes.
A finished Data Wrangler job: 137 of 137 rows successful in 41 seconds, with a row outcomes table that lists each row's search values, result, and CatDV action.
The job record: every row, its result, and what changed in CatDV.

What it does

The work it takes off your team.

Match

Find the right asset before writing.

  • Search native, custom, and media-level CatDV fields.
  • Combine several fields with AND or OR rules.
  • Choose what happens when a row finds no match or several matches.

Map

Put each value in the right field.

  • Map only the spreadsheet columns you intend to use.
  • Translate file paths when systems use different path conventions.
  • Save the setup and use it again for the next batch.

Review

Keep a record of the run.

  • Follow progress while the file is processed.
  • See the action, match count, target assets, written values, and errors for each row.
  • Look back at earlier runs in History.
