Vault 0.8.0
Vault keeps a browsable copy of your Iconik asset metadata on storage you choose.
Added
Vault keeps a complete, browsable copy of your Iconik asset metadata on storage that you choose. It copies system metadata, custom metadata, versions, collections, file groups, and markers. It stores each asset in the open OASIS schema, with one preview image per asset. Vault copies metadata, not the media files. When an asset is deleted in Iconik, Vault keeps its record and marks it as deleted. Control Room installs, licenses, and updates Vault.
To connect, select Connect iconik, approve Vault in your browser, then confirm your Iconik account and user in Vault. Vault creates a connection with read-only access to assets and collections. It never changes your asset metadata. Vault stores the connection secret encrypted on your computer.
The first backup copies the metadata of every asset your account can see. You can browse while it runs. Home shows the copied count and a progress bar. You can pause a backup and resume it later, also after you close and reopen Vault. After the first backup, Vault copies only what changed, on a schedule that you set between 5 minutes and 24 hours. Select Sync now to run a sync at any time. Vault retries an interrupted sync and continues from where it stopped.
The Library lets you browse the collection tree and search asset names, filenames, and custom metadata together, with no connection to Iconik or the internet. Combine filters, include subcollections, and sort by name or modified date. Open a live asset in Iconik from its detail card. Vault also writes an application log for backup, sync, connection, and settings events, with a folder, level, and size that you choose.
Compatibility
Vault runs on Mac computers with Apple silicon or Intel, and on Windows x64 computers that run Control Room. You need Control Room to install, license, and update Vault. Contact your reseller to purchase Vault.
You need an Iconik account with permission to create an application. Vault connects to one Iconik account at a time. You also need a storage location that your computer can already reach: a local disk, a network share that the operating system has mounted, or a Windows network (UNC) path that Windows signs in to. Vault does not mount network storage and does not store storage credentials. Vault must contact the license server at least once every 72 hours to start new backups and syncs.
Upgrade
Install and update Vault from Control Room. Close the Vault window before you update or uninstall Vault. Disconnecting Iconik or quitting Vault never deletes the local copy. Deleting it is a separate action that you must confirm.
Known issues
Scheduled syncs run only while the Vault window is open. On a large library, the collection and storage checks before a backup can take several minutes. When you disconnect Vault, it does not remove its application from Iconik. Settings shows the application ID so that an Iconik administrator can remove it.
