XenData for Iconik / Release Notes
XenData for Iconik 2.0.12
Archive and restore on premises with XenData and Iconik.
Added
XenData for Iconik connects Iconik to the XenData archive on your network. It is a Windows desktop application that runs on the XenData server. In Iconik, select assets, a collection, or a saved search, then run the archive or restore action. XenData for Iconik checks each asset. It skips assets that do not need the work, records the reason, and sends the rest to XenData.
Each request creates jobs in Iconik Jobs, with one sub-job for each asset. Progress, completion, skips, and failures show there. XenData for Iconik writes archive details, such as the tape ID, to the asset metadata in Iconik. On tape, each file keeps its folder path under the file group, so two files with the same name in different folders do not collide. The Status and Logs tabs give an administrator more detail.
Fixed
- An asset is no longer sent to XenData twice when requests overlap.
- An archive no longer creates duplicate file records in Iconik for the same asset.
- The reason for a failed asset now reaches Iconik.
- An installation upgraded from an earlier version now starts correctly.
Compatibility
XenData for Iconik runs on Windows, on the XenData archive server. You need an administrator account on that server to install it, and internet access from that server to Iconik. Your Iconik administrator sets up the archive and restore actions once.
Upgrade
To update, uninstall the current version, then run the new installer. Uninstalling keeps your settings and log files. Contact us or your reseller for the new installer.
Known issues
Run the action once for each collection or saved search. Requests wait while XenData for Iconik is not running, but only for a limited time, so keep the application running.
