Chapter 9

9. Reference

9.1 File locations

Your chosen backup folder is separate from Vault's application data. Find its saved path under Settings > Backup.

Inside the backup folder Purpose
vault.db Local metadata database in the OASIS schema
thumbnails/ Cached preview images
logs/ Default application log folder

Logs can use a custom folder instead. The saved location appears under Settings > Logging. Deleting the local copy preserves logs.

Platform Default application data folder
macOS /Library/Application Support/Vault
Windows The machine's ProgramData folder, then North Shore Automation\Vault

Application data holds machine settings and encrypted connection information. It is not the folder to select for metadata backups.

9.2 Keyboard controls

Where Key Action
Library, outside a text field /, Control+F, or Command+F Focus and select the search text
Search Enter Run the search, including a broad pattern
Focused grid or list result Arrow keys Move between results
Focused grid or list result Home or End Move to the first or last loaded result
Asset result Enter or Space Open its details
Library Escape Close the focused drawer or asset details; otherwise clear search text when applicable
Focused filter editor Escape Collapse that editor
Focused drawer resize edge Left or right arrow Adjust the drawer width

Shortcuts respect text fields. For example, typing / in a filter value enters a slash instead of moving to search.
