Chapter 5
5. Settings
Select Settings in the left navigation. Choose Connection, Backup, Logging, or About.
| Section | Use it to |
|---|---|
| Connection | Connect Iconik, reconnect, disconnect, and set automatic syncing. |
| Backup | Change the backup folder or delete the local copy. |
| Logging | Choose which activity Vault records and where it keeps logs. |
| About | Check the version, build, and license. |
5.1 Check the Iconik connection
Open Settings > Connection. Iconik connection shows the saved account and its access.
| Label | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Iconik tenant | The Iconik account that owns the backup. |
| Signed in as | The user whose access controls what Vault can read. |
| Current App ID | The application identifier (ID) for this Vault connection in Iconik. |
New browser connections have access to read assets and collections. Iconik still applies the signed-in user's access rules. Vault makes read requests when it copies metadata. It does not change the assets or collections in Iconik.
If optional details cannot be read, Vault lists them below the connection facts. Ask an Iconik administrator to check access to the missing details, then reconnect. See Connection problems.
5.2 Reconnect Iconik
Reconnect when Vault asks for new approval or you need to replace the saved connection. Use the same Iconik tenant and user as the existing backup. Vault refuses a different tenant or user to protect the copy already stored.
- Open Settings > Connection.
- Select Reconnect iconik. If no connection is saved, select Connect iconik.
- Sign in and approve Vault in your browser.
- Return to Vault. Check Iconik tenant and Signed in as.
- Select Connect this account.
- Wait for Vault to finish its connection checks.
The approving user must have permission to create an Iconik application. The current connection stays available while Vault verifies its replacement. Your local backup stays in place. Reconnecting does not clear a manual pause.
Select Cancel to stop an approval attempt. If the attempt fails, read the message before selecting Try again. For an unreadable saved connection, follow Troubleshooting.
5.3 Disconnect and revoke access
Disconnect removes the saved local connection. It keeps your backup and backup folder setting. After disconnecting, Vault returns to setup. Home, Library, and Settings stay unavailable until you reconnect. Connect the same Iconik tenant and user to use the existing backup again. Your backup files stay in the selected folder. Keep the saved connection in place when you need offline browsing.
- Note Current App ID if you also intend to revoke the application in Iconik.
- Select Disconnect in Settings > Connection.
Disconnecting does not revoke the application's authorization in Iconik. To revoke it, ask an Iconik administrator to remove that application under Admin > Settings > Application Tokens. Use the exact application ID.
If Vault lists application IDs that need cleanup, give those IDs to your Iconik administrator.
5.4 Set automatic syncing
Sync controls are in Settings > Connection, under Syncing.
- Select Enable automatic syncing.
- Choose the interval in Check Iconik.
- Check the next check time below the interval.
The standard choices run from Every 15 minutes to Once a day. Changes apply when you select them. There is no separate save button.
Clear Enable automatic syncing to stop scheduled checks. Use Sync now for a manual run. Disabling automatic syncing does not disable manual runs.
Vault only checks Iconik while its window is open. Closing Vault stops scheduled work. A manual pause is separate from this switch. See Backups and syncing for pause, resume, and recovery.
5.5 Change the backup location
Changing the location directs future syncs to the selected folder. It does not move files from the previous folder.
- Open Settings > Backup.
- Under Backup location, select Browse... or enter the full path in Folder.
- Select Update location.
- Check for Backup location updated.
Choose a folder Vault can reach and write to. Mount network storage before selecting its folder. Keep the backup folder separate from Vault's application data folder.
Files in the old folder remain there. A new, empty folder needs a new copy from Iconik. If logging uses the backup folder, future logs also use the new location. Existing logs stay in the old location.
5.6 Delete the local copy
This permanently removes the metadata and preview images Vault copied into the selected backup folder. It does not delete anything from Iconik. It keeps the connection, settings, and logs.
- Open Settings > Backup.
- Under Delete backup, select Delete local copy.
- Read Delete local copy?.
- Type
deletein the confirmation field. - Select Delete local copy to confirm, or Cancel to keep the copy.
Deletion cannot be undone. The next eligible sync starts the copy again. If you want the copy to stay deleted, disable automatic syncing before deleting it.
5.7 Check About
Open Settings > About.
| Label | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Version | The installed Vault release. |
| Build | The build reference to include with a support request. |
| License | The license reading from when Vault opened. Tier and expiration appear when available. |
The Reporting section is not active. Vault does not record or send usage statistics. Manage licenses and updates in Control Room. See Licensing and updates.
