Copy file
Copy a file.
Read Shared action rules for disabling this action, outputs, error routing, and recovery. Also read File sources and destinations.
Configuration and behavior
| Parameter | Default | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Source file | ${item.path} |
|
| Destination folder * | - | Folder the file is copied into. |
| File name | - | Blank keeps the original name. |
| Overwrite existing | off | |
| Create missing folders | on | |
| Checksum | None | MD5 or SHA-256, computed on the bytes as they are written. This records what the copy produced, not a re-read of the destination. |
Outputs: path, and when a checksum is chosen, checksum and checksum_algorithm. The source stays; the job now carries the copy.
Job detail shows copy progress and recent speed. The optional checksum is calculated while the file copies. Finishing covers the final disk save and publication. A completed step retains its bytes, elapsed time, and average speed. See File transfer progress.
Copy writes a temporary file only in the selected destination folder, then publishes the final name after the copy is complete. The source stays in place. If the transfer fails or is cancelled before publication, the source remains and no partial final file appears. An existing destination stays in place unless Overwrite existing allowed its replacement. Relay removes only a temporary file it owns; if it cannot verify that cleanup, the job reports the retained temporary file. Create missing folders, the chosen file name, source permissions, and Checksum retain their normal behavior.
